Aussie Sleeper: Watch This Holden Commodore With A Turbocharged Stock Bottom End LS Rip Low 9s At 150+

This video makes us happy in all the ways. Why? Firstly it shows that drag racing is not just roaring back to life here in the USA in 2021, but it is doing the same in Australia. Secondly it shows that people are continuing to build just awesome hot rods on a budget across all corners of the world, and thirdly, it reinforces the fact that we do live in the greatest age of cheap horsepower the universe has ever known.

The car you are going to see here was obviously built by smart people who had a plan and a kind of devious sense of humor. A pale white four door that is about as exciting looking as a glass of water running low (and we mean LOW) 9s at more than 150mph is high entertainment. It is fun to watch the car from outside but it is doubly as fun to watch it from the inside. The guy doesn’t even had a transbrake in this car, instead launching off a combo of foot and parking brake coordination, which is maybe our favorite part.

The suspension works fantastically as the thing plants the radials, hunkers over to the right and just hauls ass down the strip much to the delight of the driver and the guys with the car. The short walk around reveals a Borg-Warner turbo, a 6.0L LS engine with factory pistons, rods, and crank, and a little badge on the back that would only catch the eye of a truly suspicious potential victim. Perfection!

Yeah, we know, the car is lacking some safety tubes inside the structure but damn is this thing a hauler!

  1. Labweiler

Low 9’s without a cage, parachute(150+mph) proper belts/seat, window net, neck brace, etc..
    Darwin award in the making.
