Holley Hot Rod Reunion 2019: Our Coverage From Beech Bend Starts Now!

Holley Hot Rod Reunion 2019: Our Coverage From Beech Bend Starts Now!

Early summer in Bowling Green…there’s nothing like it. The flowers are in bloom, the sun is shining, and the tracks are open. Gearhead paradise is open for business, and as I look at the calendar, yep…it’s that time again! The Holley Hot Rod Reunion is my “homecoming” event, since it marks five years since I first started shooting photos for BangShift in the “professional” sense. And what an event to break yourself in on…wheelstanding gasser-types, nostalgia Pro Stockers, Altereds, Top Fuel, jet cars, and a show and shine field packed to the brim with the kinds of machines that y’all would go nuts for. It is heaven, and that’s before we get to the fun of Saturday night, especially after the car show awards have been handed out and the sun has set. Don’t worry, I’ve got my passes, I’ll be on-hand to cover the one and only Cacklefest!

We are scrambling to get our coverage underway and we’re going in deep from the jump. We’ve got the likes of Mike Bilina and that absolutely monstrous 1956 Chevy of his. Bilina couldn’t wait to stage for the wheels-up antics to begin…his dry hop was one of the highest angles I’ve EVER seen that car, and I’ve seen it come up a LOT over the years! There’s the Straight Axle Mafia, who showed up to show off, and the Pro Stockers that showed up…ugh, there is no emoji for the “Italian Kiss” that signifies perfection, but when you have Warren Johnson’s Camaro taking on The Rod Shop’s 1984 Firebird tribute car, it’s a good day. So is seeing a Hemi Colt in the staging lanes and a Hemi-headed Ford Pinto roaming around looking nice and violent!

There will be plenty of photos coming, so stay tuned!
