Inside The Pressure Cooker: Ride Along With Stevie Fast During His Epic Final Round Staging Duel With Jonathan Gray

We’ve been showing you the Stevie Fast autobiography stuff this week but we’re switching gears a little today with this most recently posted video. You are going to ride along with Jackson as he takes on Jonathan Gray in what was one of the, if not the single most entertaining final rounds of the entire NHRA season, regardless of class or category. Gray and Jackson engaged in about a minute long staging duel that had both teams cranked up and the rest of us chewing on leather belts waiting to see what would happen. Gray is an absolutely and utter bad ass on the starting line. He’s .025 or better every freaking run. Both guys apparently went to the line with the intention of staging last for this one.

Jackson had a really good first season in the NHRA pro mod world. Out of 12 races he went to four finals and won two of them. The finals he lost were all bad ass races, he brought it hard at every race. Jonathan Gray is a really intense guy in a quiet way. He’s not one who will be yelling and screaming but he’ll look you square in the eye and tell you with no sort of uncertainty exactly what he’s going to do to the guy in the other lane. Racing with Rickie Smith is a great match for Gray. Both of those guys really want to tear everyone’s head off their shoulders when they are in a race car…and sometimes when they are outside of it.

Here it is…one hell of a final from Charlotte.
