While I was standing in a lift in Michigan covering the Mid-West Drag Racing Series back in September, I happened to take a quick glance at the chat. Normally, the only time the livestream chat gets anything more than a split-second of my time is if racing has stopped or I’m concerned that you hooligans are up to no good and need a visit from Ye Olde Trusty Banhammer. This time around, though, I happened to catch a name: Overtaking Lane. At first, I thought it was an Aussie who was seriously early to rise. At 7:30 at night, it had to be the crack of dawn for this guy, so I imagined the usual yawn, stretch, make a noise that scares the dog and pisses off the wife, and shuffle to the computer to see what’s going on in the world. Good on’ya, glad to have you tuned in. (It’s a thing with me, I love seeing the international viewership at events.)

But then it was mentioned that they stream events. Oh…? Well, then…I snapped a picture with my phone just as engines fired up and things got back to moving. And the rest is what it is…after that race, I went to the hotel, conked out, did it again the next day, slept, then flew to Tulsa well before first light and kicked off Rocky Mountain Race Week v2.0. And I forgot that I had that photo in my phone until yesterday, when I was trying to track down a cute cat picture for a spamming political party’s outreach center. It’s the year I text back. Anyways, I rediscovered the shot and had to look up their page. I’ll let you take a look, but off the jump…I think you’re gonna like what you see.
