Legit Bumper Dragger! Watch This Camaro Hammer The Steel At I29 Dragway During A No-Prep Event

No-Prep drag racing is a topic of hotel debated merit these days. There are legions of supporters of this unpredictable and exciting form of the sport and there are about as many people who think it is a bad idea that they wish would go away. Us? Anything that puts butts in seats and keeps places like I29 Dragway open is a good thing in our book. This video is prep that no-prep does not mean “no traction” as you are about to see an early Camaro literally drag its steel bumper on the ground during a race.

While the track itself is not prepared, you’ll see that competitors are allowed a small area to do burnouts with their own select version of traction compound or “pimp juice” as it is commonly called by participants. Combining that with the number of cars heading down the strip warming the track and leaving a little rubber in their wake and by the end of the night you have one pretty damned good race track to hook up and run on. This video is proof of that.

The racer in the Camaro likely had a conservative tune in the car to deal with a marginal track, except the track was far beyond marginal. With a lot of power pulled away from the car, instead of smoking the tires it dead hooked them and sent the nose of the thing into the sky. The driver handles it like a boss but he gets outrun in the process.

Hopefully there was a wheelie bonus because he earned it!
