(Photos by Randy McCuddy) – The good news is that Andrew Johnson was OK after his 1955 Chevrolet hit the wall at Lights Out 9. The bad news is that the car was unable to return to racing but we understand that Johnson has plans to fix it and the damage was basically all body and no chassis. Outside of that excitement, Lights Out 9 was a reasonably “clean” race in terms of incidents on the track. Incidents off the track? That’s a different story for a different day.
These Randy McCuddy photos are great because this particular group brings us all over the track. From thrashing in the pits to fix stuff to seeing the gorilla flames barfing from a nitrous car’s exhaust, we have a great “global” look at the event. Some of our favorite images here are those that feature drivers with their cars at the top end after a run. Neat perspective and great work by shooter Randy McCuddy. These rule!
