Little Demon: Happiness Is A Supercharged Pontiac Solstice GXP

Little Demon: Happiness Is A Supercharged Pontiac Solstice GXP

Now here’s a car we don’t think about often, the Pontiac Solstice. The little Kappa sports car that was one of the final hits from the Excitement Division before Pontiac caught the wrong end of GM’s post-bailout reconstruction plan. Fitted with EcoTec four-bangers and available as a coupe or roadster, the natural instinct is to treat the little Pontiac like a Cobra: small car, big motor. Given that the rear end is from the Cadillac CTS and that there is room under the hood for an LS mill, the application just seems appropriate. Nothing against an EcoTec with a turbocharger, but we like the idea of what a V8 can do in the small platform.

Now, just the LS alone will kick the Solstice into a whole new region of eye-opening, but slapping on an Edelbrock E-force blower onto the mill is that much better. Power to weight? Unknown, but for sure it’s got to be impressive. This is the first time out at the track for this car, and for a first time run, a low-eleven at Byron isn’t a bad start. Wait until this little beast gets dialed in some more…we can’t wait to see it’s first ten-second slip.

I remember when Hot Rod built an LS powered Solstice over 10 yrs ago. Saw it on the Power Tour going thru Englishtown.
