Looking To The Sky: The “Blackhawk” Pontiac Firehawk Can Grip Any Surface!

Looking To The Sky: The “Blackhawk” Pontiac Firehawk Can Grip Any Surface!

“Blackhawk”, the 2000 Pontiac Firebird you see here, is known for it’s party trick: it’ll hang the front wheels high anytime, any place. With enough nitrous to run several dentist offices at the same time coursing through it’s LS, yanking the wheels isn’t the surprise. What is the surprise is that the Blackhawk can do it on just about any surface you put it on, and that isn’t exactly what the driver, Joe, wants. Wheelies are cool, especially when the front goes as high as this Pontiac’s does, but it’s a show…it does not help with quarter mile times at all. So what do you do to bring down the wheels in a car that seems like it’s trying out for the Byron Dragway wheelstanding competition? You mess with ballast, shift weight, adjust suspension, yank power out, and do whatever you can to keep the wheels down to at least a reasonable height. Not this Firehawk, hell no…this thing could probably hang the hoops on a sand drag pit. Hm…come to think of it, that would be absolutely bitchin’ to see…
