Among the larger stories at SEMA 2015 was the unveiling of the 2016 COPO Camaro and the 2016 Mustang Cobra Jet. The two vehicles are designed to combat each other on the drag strips of America and they will meet in bracket races, various local showdowns, and also at NHRA National events, including the biggest and more prestigious drag race in the world, the Chevrolet Performance NHRA US Nationals. This video comes from the 2015 running of that race and it features great action and inside information regarding the heads-up factory stock showdown which is one of the more electrifying events that happens on the busy week.
There are two categories in that event. There’s the FS/X cars for the naturally aspirated combo and the FS/XX which denote the supercharged cars. 2016 will be the first year that Dodge will field a supercharged version of its Drag Pack so all three companies will be represented in each of the classes. So the winner of the naturally aspirated side of the event takes on the winner of the blower side in a race that is handicapped on the start but has no breakout. First to the finish line will win no matter how quickly they go.
It was Ford’s weekend at Indy in 2015 and you’ll see why in this video. Their cars and drivers were on full kill mode with their driving ability and their tune-ups. There are some huge wheelies in here, some big numbers, and lots of great runs. If you love Fords, lock the door when you watch this one.
