LS Fest X: The Early Morning Wake-Up Call

Five o’clock in the morning comes quick. It comes a hell of a lot quicker when you usually go to bed at three in the morning, but such is life. That being said, there is no way I was going to sleep in any minute longer than necessary with Holley’s LS Fest X in town. For the past few years, traffic incoming into Beech Bend has proven that the early bird gets the worm…and the parking spot…and avoids the line to get into the event. Besides, there’s always a nice “calm before the storm” feeling that I get in the early morning hours of any event.

As cars started to wake up, tires were warmed up and the smell of scrambled eggs and bacon filled the air from many of the campers on the property, the walking started with Uncle Tony DeFeo, who showed up to check out his first LS Fest. And let it be said, Uncle Tony has found quite a bit of LS Fest he actually likes!

The drag cars got prepared at their trailers and the autocrossers walked the course in the bowl to get familiar before their practice runs started. And I made my way to the autocross course. There was fun to be had and a couple of cars waiting for a passenger ride-along. And I brought my helmet with me…
