(Photos and words by David Whealon) –)  What a way to end Galot Motorsports Park’s 2018 season!! In just three years of Drag Racing and add a couple more for the Tractor Pulling and Monster Truck dirt track, the Galot name is synonymous to the masses as the place to find some of the most badass motorsport entertainment on the planet. And the 2018 Mad Mule Pro Mod Shootout was one for the ages. Partnering with Protect the Harvest, this season ending event was off the hook with a 20k payday going to the Pro Mod Mad Mule Championship Belt Winner. As always the added classes of the 4.70 Outlaws, a Door Car vs Dragster Shootout, Pro and Top Junior Dragsters and the Big Dog Renegade Class kept the show rolling at an aggressive pace.

The three rounds of qualifying had the Mad Mule Pro Mods limited to 45 minutes between rounds in order complete the November 7th one day show before the curfew on Saturday night. With the quick turnaround time, the teams scrambled to get the tune adjusted to the changing cooler weather conditions heading their way with eliminations starting when the sun dipped away behind the lofty grandstands. The ladders were just as everyone expected with Tommy Franklin taking the point with his Musi powered Camaro along with the heavy hitters of Jim Halsey, Lizzy Musi, Galot’s John Strickland, Jason Harris and 2016 Mad Mule title-holder Jay Cox rounding out the top six. As the madness had it, eliminations were as unexpected as they could get. Strickland and Cox couldn’t make the call for the first round and crowd favorite Lizzy Musi got taken out in Round 1.

When all the wackiness through the rounds ended, No. 2 qualifier Jim Halsey squared off with 2018 PDRA Champ Jason Harris for their final chance at the belt. With a 3.65 206.10 mph blast, Cecil County’s Halsey took his Fulton powered ’68 YellowBullet Camaro to the win over Harris’ losing 3.78 200 mph in his Musi powered Party Time ’69 Camaro.

While the entire 2019 Galot Motorsports Park schedule is still being scripted and with the Mad Mule dates set along with the PDRA signing up for two races and NTPA coming back as well, 2019 is looking even more stellar than ever before!
