Keith Haney was a man full of interesting news during the Summer Speed Spectacular event at World Wide Technology Raceway in St. Louis. He had plenty to say while he was there, for sure, but the biggest news that came out involves the NHRA. A deal has been struck between Texas Motorplex, the Mid-West Pro Mod Series and the NHRA that will see a 16-car invitational field making an appearance at the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals event weekend, which takes place October 17-20, 2019.
“Saying that this is. dream come true can’t even come close to describing the feeling of this coming to fruition. After years of work, sweat and dreams, NHRA fans will see some of the best 1/8th mile pro mod cars in the world. We have been working on this for about four years now, and it’s finally a reality,” Haney said in his announcement on August 2nd.
As of press time, there is no news regarding what teams will be picked for the sixteen-car field, though the choice is strictly Haney’s to make. We’re sure that he will bring a mix of setups with him, so blowers, turbo cars and nitrous huffers will all make an appearance in front of the NHRA cameras and crowds. More information will follow along as the time draws nearer
Not to diminish B. Lohnes excellent work but I am wondering how many people will actually see, or even care about this event. Nobody I know who follows drag racing gives a rats ass about the NHRA anymore. That ship sailed years ago.
Sorry but just stating the obvious.
