(Photos by Benoit Pigeon) – I have lots of respect for photographers. Guys who actually know what they are doing with the picture taking machine in their hands make me look bad but it doesn’t bug me. I am not a photographer but Benoit Pigeon is. Benoit is also one of the most amazingly die-hard pro mod fans on the face of the Earth. Having lived the majority of his life in his native France, Benoit’s knowledge of the sport was largely cultivated through drag racing magazines and whatever media he could get hold of.

One of the reasons you see so many photos from him over the course of a year is that Benoit genuinely loves this stuff and because of that we’ve got a huge amount of respect for his work. This is not a guy who just stumbled into the drag strip. Whether he had a camera or not, Benoit would be there and taking part in the event.

Like the old joke about food tasting better because it has been cooked with “love” can easily be equated to racing photography. Guys who truly enjoy and understand what they are looking at take better photos because they understand how things work. Benoit has been there and shot that and still loves it about as much as he did on his first day at the strip.
