Morning Symphony: AA/GS At Byron Dragway – The Gasser Soundtrack!

Morning Symphony: AA/GS At Byron Dragway – The Gasser Soundtrack!

Old cars, big engines, drivers with big brass ones that clang like church bells when they walk…you’ve heard the stories, read the writings of people who have done a much better job than I ever could, and yet still, if you’ve never seen an AA/Gas car in action, it must be said: you won’t understand it. Somehow, even video doesn’t quite do to justice what it is to actually watch one of these machines as they make a lap. First and foremost, they’re highly photogenic. It seems that every last car is done up to the nines. Every last car seems kind of tame before the burnout box, but the second that throttle is tickled, plug your ears because hell will be unleashed. Drivers, young and old alike, don’t race these cars so much for the glory of winning. They race to put on a show. You’ll get burnouts for distance. You’ll get back up girls. You’ll get dry hops, rev challenges, bumper-dragging launches, the whole nine yards. The drivers will put on a show with a smile, and the crowds will eat this up every time.

We’ve seen these cars at events across the country. The “Crazy Grandpa” Corvette might be my favorite of them all, but it’s difficult to pick a favorite when they all rule. You want proper noise, violent engines and all? Wake up to this gem!
