Morning Symphony: Gassers Abroad! The Gasser Circus At Santa Pod!

Morning Symphony: Gassers Abroad! The Gasser Circus At Santa Pod!

Straight axles, a nose-high stance and a propensity for yanking the wheels on the launch while most of the weight shifts to over the rear axle. Fenderwell-exit headers, classic paint licks, and wheelie bars, just in case of course. Gassers are one of our favorite classes to watch thanks to the variety of old-school sheet metal that runs in the class and the action that goes down. Any class that can see an altered-wheelbase Dodge line up with an Anglia Ford that’s built to thrill is fine by us. Groups like the Southeast Gassers Association have been in our camera lens for years with Willys trucks, tri-five Chevies and Falcons, but they aren’t a regional thing. Apparently the flavor of the nose-high screamers lives in Europe as well, because there’s enough of these beasts living across the pond to host a whole class of racers at Santa Pod in the U.K. A bit different than the highly-strung Fiestas, isn’t it?
