Morning Symphony: The Gringo Malibu Launching Like A Missile!

Morning Symphony: The Gringo Malibu Launching Like A Missile!

Growing up, a four-door G-body Malibu would’ve been labeled a “parts car” and pushed out into the far sections of the yard. One in particular stayed in memory: a white Malibu, tan interior, with those gold-faced trailer wheels and a 305 long since gone, appeared right about the time I was going to trade one of my Cutlasses for the 1978 Impala. The Malibu was very clean and probably only needed to be repowered, but at the time I couldn’t see past the four-door deal. Looking at the OD Green Malibu known as “Gringo”, the realization that I was very short-sighted is hitting home, because this Malibu is hitting the bottle hard at launch! This traditional small-block powered machine is off and gone on it’s first pass of the season. There are plenty of four-door bodies out there and there are plenty of small-blocks out there that could use a home. Nobody is going to shed a tear for a cut-up sedan, but when one moves out like this, it doesn’t matter what you did, so long as it runs hard and doesn’t blow up every fourth pass!
