Morning Symphony: A Toyota Starlet With A Flame-Throwing Rotary

Morning Symphony: A Toyota Starlet With A Flame-Throwing Rotary

No replacement for displacement, eh? No, that old adage has been killed over and over. Sure, there is nothing like a big-bore, big cube V8 with all the civility of a Viking on full berserker mode, but there are other ways to get your adrenaline fix. Buddy Ingersoll’s twin-turbocharged Buick took 267 cubic inches and two hair dryers and set Pro Stock on it’s ear so badly that the car was eventually outlawed. There are many a Mustang and Camaro owner out there on Main Street, USA who have had their asses handed to them on a silver platter, fully garnished and all, by everything from turbocharged, all wheel drive rally rockets to Hondas that are built to the hilt and stripped of every last ounce of weight.

And then there is the rotary. The power of triangles and boost, revving like the Devil’s own chainsaw with a stuck throttle, a wound out rotary in a light car is something to behold. You might not be able to hear anything ever again if you are foolish enough to be around one without hearing protection in (or even if you do) but there’s a reason why Mazda gets emails, letters, and fan art begging for yet another rotary-powered sports car. It’s because the little turbocharged ripsaw under the hood can move out while screaming in an RPM range that is normally the domain of crotch rocket motorcycles.

LOVE THE IMPORTS. THERE FAST AND NOT AFRAID TO RUN THE 1/4 MILE . THE IMPORTS ALWAYS HAVE A BIG CROWD AND LOTS OF RACERS. I USED TO LOVE THE PRO MODS BUT NOW THAT THEY RUN MOSTLY RUN 1/8 MILE I STAY HOME .ITS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THE IMPORTS STAY TRUE TO THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT AND RUN 1/4 MILE.TO BAD THE DOMESTIC CARS HAVE MOSTLY GIVEN UP 1/4 MILE RACING .BY BY AMERICAN PIE AN IMPORT RAN A 1/4 AND THE BIG BLOCK CRIED . I THANK GOD FOR THE IMPORTS I KNOW WE GET 1/4 MILE RACING .NOW WHEN I SEE A RACE ADVERTISE YOU HAVE TO STUDY IT VERY CLOSE TO SEE IF IT IS A 1/4 MILE RACE. ITS LIKE THERE A SHAME OF THE RACE BEING 1/8 MILE .
