This nitro time machine was a fun one to make. Why? It is a little different than the rest in the sense that we’re only going back a couple of years and the vast majority of the people involved are still racing. We’re going to the final round of the 2018 NHRA 4-Wide nationals in Las Vegas to watch the top fuel final. The reason is simple. I was standing on that starting line the day this race was run and even I failed to truly comprehend what I was seeing.
Tony Schumacher, Antron Brown, Doug Kalitta, and Steve Torrence were all lined up there, ready to go at it. In the moment it was an exciting conclusion to an exciting weekend with a packed house in Vegas. Looking back on it this was a potentially once in a lifetime opportunity to see the winningest four top fuel drivers in modern NHRA history all try to beat the stuffing out of one another.
Tony Schumacher is back on the sponsor hunt so this literally cannot happen again. At last not in this moment in time.
Check out this awesome four-wide top fuel final full of history!

Brian, maybe you meant winningest four ‘active’ top fuel drivers.
I’m not dedicated to the argument enough to look it up, but I don’t think Steve is top four (yet) when Larry Dixon’s total is considered, but I guess that name doesn’t get considered in the environment of your main gig these days.
I don’t blame you, we’ve all had a job to do..
