When we first started making Put Up or Shut Up I had this idea for the ultimate episode and it was going to be a pair of pulling tractors sitting side by side, weight sleds attached, and the goal would not be going the distance it would be going the distance the fastest. I really, really wanted to go tractor pull drag racing and lo and behold we actually did it during the second season of making the show.
Just like last week, the Motor Trend YouTube channel has dropped another full episode of the series and this time it is that magical day when we went to GALOT Motorsports Park and executed on their wild idea I had during our first production and pitch meetings.
The Running Bear and the Super Bee were the tractors. Randy and Keith were the drivers, and the Bauer built pulling sleds were going to be playing the role of grand equalizer. The guys went three rounds and the first one was pretty rough.
As you will see, the course was WAYYY too dry the first hook and the reason for that is simple….tv production people. While shooting all the beauty stuff of the tractors and the other small widgets we needed along with getting GoPro cameras mounted and all, the course was prepared. The track did an amazing job with that process, we just blew past the estimated time by a bunch and it baked. As you will see, rounds two and three were far, far better and the data shows it in the graphs.
It’s neat that the series is seeing the light of day on YouTube. It was truly awesome to make each episode.
