One of the first events of the year we look forward to is the Diesel Power Challenge, where trucks from all over meet in Colorado to do battle, and it’s followed up with the TS Performance Diesel Drags and Truck Pull in Kentucky. Diesel performance is no joke…we make brodozer cracks, but with the right tuning and tons of pressure from the turbo, a diesel block can make four-digit power levels with no problem whatsoever. But if you take the block out of the truck and stick it in a drag-prepared rail job or funny car that has been tweaked to handle the weight, you get something even more impressive and that’s what we have here, from the NHDRA World Finals at Texas Motorplex. 200 PSI of boost, compounding turbochargers and slicks that barely stand a chance against the tidal wave of torque that will hit once the light goes green.

Kabbbbooooom – cough choke splutter!
These mothers sound like jet fighters on take off and their exhaust smoke is guaranteed to kill tree all tree huggers within a 5 mile radius – I notice only one car had its exhaust facing rearwards to harness all that 200 psi worth of pressure to boost its speed.
More please!
no, the best heavy metal metal album is still La Bite du Diable by Antekhrist 29 https://demonecromancy.wordpress.com/2015/12/14/greatest-albums-youve-never-heard-2-la-bite-du-diable/
Paranoid by the mighty Black Sabbath is the best metal album EVER and will remain so until the Earth is either invaded by aliens, is hit by a meteorite or is vaporised in a nuclear war started by President Trump….
I’m sorry! I don’t care how fast these oil burners go…it just doesn’t do anything for me.
But I can just see a bunch of drunk rednecks wearing Cummins wife-beaters howlering “Yee-haw…Rollin’ Coal!”
I’m happy you felt the need to let us know how unimpressed you are with this. Thank you.
I, however, am amazed with how far diesel performance has come in 15 years.
I know little to nothing about diesel engines, but doesn’t all that black smoke ‘soot’ equal, wasted un-burnt fuel? Always figured billows of black smoke was an indicator of extremely inefficient ignition and/or a super rich condition. That being said, it’s impressive the numbers these guys are laying down. Wonder how much more power is in them with a better burn? Would love to hear a diesel expert explain this in greater detail.
Well, how fast is it?
