With the announcement that the small tire stars of the Redemption No Prep series would be running a Friday showcase at the upcoming Houston NHRA national event, there’s more news of the organization hosting a non-traditional class at one of their races. This time the category will be X275 and it will be happening at the 2017 New England Nationals at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire.
The format of the race is going to be pretty fun. The whole program is slated to run on Friday with a qualifying run being made in the morning and three rounds of eliminations happening in conjunction with the professional qualifying sessions that day.
The coolest part? The active involvement of guys like Torrey Browne who heads up the New England X275 contingent and John Sears who is the guy who has shepherded the class to national prominence. These guys came up with a great format which will pit a team of five New England based X275 competitors assembled by Browne against five out of region racers put together by John Sears. While Sears has not announced his team yet, we strongly suspect that he’s not going to be trying to take it easy on Browne.
We’re hearing that there will be some more announcements made through the season regarding these types of showcases and we think that’s a good thing. There will be traditional NHRA fans seeing X275 for the first time and there will be X275 fans perhaps attending their first NHRA event ever. Stock, super stock, x275, funny cars and top fuel on the same day along with everything else? Yeah, that sounds fun.
