NMRA World Finals Coverage: Our Last Look At The Season Ending Event In Bowling Green

(Photos by Bryan McTaggart) – When the dust settled and the champions were decided, Beech Bend Raceway was a pretty empty place. That’s the irony about the drag races. As the intensity and the stakes rise through the elimination rounds, more and more of the competitors who have been eliminated head for home. We cannot blame them but it is always interesting to us to see the final scene on any weekend where championships are on the line. In particular a weekend that  presented the level of challenges and resistance that this one did to NMRA race officials.

We don’t mean resistance from the NMRA racers themselves but what we do mean is resistance from mother nature! There were some people who were convinced that they would be racing on Monday at Beech Bend but that was not the case. The NMRA staff worked until all hours to get the track ready for racing and they raced for as long as mother nature allowed before heading home for a short rest and hitting the ground running on Sunday morning. It was a furious charge to the end but they got the job done at a race people will be talking about for years. Many championships were decided in the late rounds on Sunday. That’s the way it is supposed to work!

McTaggart busted his hump for these photos and we’re happy that he did. If you love high performance Fords and you fail to check out all of these images you are a big dumb dummy. Take that to the bank.
