No Prep Collector Wreck: Watch This Blazer And Camaro Get Together At Redemption 5.0 In Texas

The recent Redemption 5.0 no-prep race in Texas brought out a lot of the heavy guns in this style of racing. Ultimately Birdman won the big money at the end of the race but along the way there was plenty of stuff for the spectators to see and gasp about. Along with all of the normal, sideways, barely in control action that no-prep racing offers there was some wreckage as well. The video below shows one smack ’em up situation that could have been a ton worse if the timing was a little different.

In the video we see a square S-10 Blazer and a fourth generation Camaro line up side by side and head down the track. Things are OK until the Blazer gets loose and as the driver is fighting with it for control the Camaro pulls up and begins to pass him. Seeing this you can almost hear the driver of the Blazer whack the throttle and the thing lurches across the race track. The Camaro nearly makes it past the wayward Chevy and then at the last second its bumper get clipped and as the Blazer hits one wall the Camaro heads for the other. Both cars are mashed up pretty bad it looks like.

If the whole thing had taken place a split second earlier the Blazer would have been in the door of the Camaro and that would have been really, really bad. We understand that both drivers were OK after the incident and will hopefully fix their stuff.

It’s always that last whack of the pedal that seems to cause the calamities on the drag strip, isn’t it?

  1. crazy canuck

they are using the tree to leave right ? so that big red light in the camaros lane is a reason to go for broke or does it mean nothing ?

As much as I think this no prep thing is stupid, at least is was on a real track and no spectators were involved and no cars hit a pole, rolled in a field or something worse.
