(Words and photos by Dennis Vos) – On the same weekend as the Main Event was held, I received a warm welcome while attending the Shakespeare County Raceway during their Public Track Weekend & Yanks Inc NASC Gary’s Picnic. This event is smaller in comparison with the Main event, but non the less a great day out to experience some high quality racing.
After meeting with some racer friends who I had not seen for a long time and sucking down a nice coffee, I headed to the track. I was was greeted with a nice lineup of cars including a wide variety of gassers. I do have to say it was a nice way to see a different side of the drag racing I am used to and this was for me as a photographer very pleasant, not to see the same things twice in one weekend. Also the track is for the audience very accessible.
