It’s not right to call this Ford LTD a sleeper. It’s not, not even close. It’s clean, yes, and it probably started out as a babied sedan owned by a little old lady who put maybe a thousand miles a year on the car, but now…no, it’s a turbocharged Fox platform car. You aren’t hiding that, I don’t care how talented you are. So it’s not a sleeper, but what this “not a Fairmont” Ford does well is prove that an off-key build can rock. These LTDs were passed over for just about any other Ford out there when they were dwindling down from “used cars” to “$200 or best offer” level, but now that everybody and their mother is out building Fox Mustangs and Fairmonts, the LTD really stands out above the crowd…especially when it launches this hard and pulls like a freight train at the top end of the track with it’s whorehouse red interior still present and accounted for. It’s a car you don’t normally see on the track, and that carries some weight. Anyone and almost everyone is building a Mustang. But to grab one of these early-bird special sedans, throw some goodies at it and wind up smacking a built-up Nissan GT-R around at the Christmas tree…that will leave a memory with anyone who witnessed it.
