(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – I am a throwback, traditionalist, and have a soft spot for older things. This is why these are some of my favorite photo subjects. The flattie-powered, homemade sprint car is a real gem. The little red coupe is beyond immaculate. Its powered by a stroked Buick 425 Nailhead with all sorts of machined parts to make it work. The ‘Pigusus’ is a cool-looking streamlined roadster. My son fell for the Canadian Pontiac wagon powered by a SBC (supposedly that is stock for the ones up North) Editor’s note: That’s the truth!
The Studebaker was a fresh ride powered by a healthy SB2.2 and all sorts of good build ideas. The lines on these are just so sleek and timeless. The ’39 Chevy is one of our favorites to watch every time we go. Not because its blazing-fast nor because it’s a riddler-contender. We like it because it isn’t those. It’s just a regular car-guy’s car out there running for new bests and looking pretty sharp doing it. Makes me think we could take the Nova out there and make some laps for giggles and see what we could squeeze out if it without breaking the bank and changing the cruising nature of our ride. Enjoy this gallery of classic style and lines pushing their way down the track.
Great photo set. The amount of rear end lift on all the vehicles is fascinating to see. I can better understand the huge trunk wings on boxy drag cars to keep some pressure on the slicks at the top end.
Let’s see more of these please!
The last streamliner looks like one of those tornado chase vehicles!
Great photos, lads!
I especially love all the Chevrolets, the Pontiac wagon with the Chevrolet engine is my favorite.
Not a Chev motor, Pontiac.
Canadian StratoChief Safari Pontiac = Chevrolet Engine. Now probably a stroker of some sort. Cheers.
These vehicles are stunning. The exterior is brilliant. Also, I additionally need to see these vehicles on avenues with high speed. We all are energetically holding up to watch these vehicles in events moreover. 🙂
