Ohio Mile Coverage: More Great Images From The ECTA Season Opener At The Ohio Mile

(Photos by David Whealon – DW Photos) – As yesterday’s images showed you and as today’s will continue to prove, it was a picture perfect weekend in Wilmington, Ohio for the ECTA Ohio Mile season opener. Temps peaked in the middle 70 degree range, the wind was virtually non-existent for lots of the weekend before coming up on Sunday and lots of stout runs were laid down by competitors on both days of the event.

One of the neatest things that happened over the course of the weekend involved one family, the Acton’s. Dad Brian went 215mph and won his class of the Hot Rod Top Speed Challenge but along with that his son Trevor (who is in his late teens) got in the car and ripped off a 200mph run (he was already in the ECTA 200mph club) and finally their youngest boy Kyle got in the car and over the course of the weekend HE licensed up and made a 200mph, setting a record and earning himself, at age 17, entrance into the the ECTA 200mph club. We don’t know how many times a father and both sons have run their car to this level at one event but for the ECTA it sure is a first. That is a wicked running car and a couple of boys who pay attention to mom and dad. It was very fun to watch and see right in front of my eyes.

We also set the slowest record in ECTA history with a nitrous aided 46mph shot from Daryl White on his 50cc sidecar motorcycle. It stopped the clocks at 46mph to claim the record in a class that was wide, and we mean WIDE open. Daryl and crew were having a blast and it was fun watching him beat on that little thing!
