Here’s Another One: Paul Romine’s Man-O-War Nitro Funny Car Is On The Block

Here’s Another One: Paul Romine’s Man-O-War Nitro Funny Car Is On The Block

Last week we showed you a cool but largely unheralded nostalgia nitro funny car for sale in the Detroit area. Today we are showing you a very heralded and well known nitro funny car for sale in the Indy area. This is the mighty Man-O-War 1979 Mustang that has been run by Paul Romine for years and is certainly one of the top cars in the country. It is currently for sale, turn-key for $119,900 and when we say turn-key, we mean it. The car comes 100% complete and the new owner gets to pick stuff like which clutch program they want in the thing and loads of other stuff like ignition as well. There are spares that can be purchased for more money if you want to spend it. Oh, they will also send the entire team to your licensing runs if you’d like to pay for them to get there as well. That’s pretty awesome.

We’re not entirely sure what to think about the number of nostalgia nitro funny cars for sale these days. The whole scene is certainly not moribund, but it is not nearly what it was even five years ago. There has been loads of awesome performance gains made and perhaps that has scared some of the less hardcore teams away. Romine is not one of those guys. We are talking about a dude who has been in the top fuel ranks forever in NHRA and IHRA competition and came into the nostalgia funny car ranks with a fury. Perhaps he is going to settle back into running his company or maybe there’s something new on the horizon. Is this a function of his distaste for the new NHRA ProMag rule in the class? We are not sure.

What we are sure of is the fact that someone could end up with one of the most bitchin’ nostalgia nitro funny cars in the country and for what seems to be a fair price for a running, driving, competitive ride.
