(Photos by Benoit Pigeon) – Eighth mile drag racing has never been more deep into the sport’s consciousness as it is right now. From X275 all the way though big cars like those that compete at the highest levels of the PDRA, there is eighth mile action happening literally everywhere now. There are still some people who think that eighth mile racing is not fun and those people have likely never seen it before. Don’t get us wrong, we’re not trading in the 1320 for anything but what we are saying is that to be a good eighth mile racer you need to really bring it all to the table on every run. There’s not enough time for a car to bail your crappy reaction time out, you have to get it done right off the bat.
That’s the story on the 10-race PDRA trail. Races are won and lost by thousandths of a second and more often than not, picking a winner is damned near impossible. If a racer blinks at the wrong time at the starting line it is over, if they are late on a shift by .001 it is over. With mid/high 3-second runs determining winners and losers in the Pro classes, there is no margin for error.
Benoit Pigeon was at the track last weekend and his images can be found below. We gave you race results yesterday, today dig these photos!
