(Photos by David Whealon/DWphotos.net) – Yes, we were fortunate enough to have two fantastic shooters on the grounds of Rockingham Dragway during the 2016 PDRA Spring Nationals a couple of weekend ago. Yes, the event sent shockwaves to the core of the drag racing world but there is some light shining from those dark clouds now because Ian Tocher is making miraculous strides in his recovery after nearly being killed by the flying, out of control car of Ronnie Davis. We all know the story and the world will have to move on from it.
Thanks to the diligent lens work of David we have some great images to share with you from the weekend. We chose to incorporate some images of Ronnie Davis in this batch of photos because the man was totally in his element when it came to drag racing. His life was not flawless and none of us can make the claim that ours is, right?
That being said, on the track there were few guys who could hold a candle to him in real life. He was just that good and he tried to get away with one during that last qualifying session and it did not break in his favor. Between the loss left because of his talent being gone, the loss to his family, and the shock of the drag racing community, the 2016 PDRA Spring Nationals will go down in history.
