The 2015 Chevrolet Performance US Nationals was a very different race than we have been used to seeing on the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour. It had been a weeks long string of historic performances out of multiple teams through the western swing and Brainerd but when everyone arrived at Indy they were confronted by temperatures that hovered in the 95-degree range as far as their air and a track that was 120+ at times during the weekend. The result was lots of carnage, lots of wild runs, and lots of times that drivers carried the weight of their teams hopes and dreams with them.

Such was the case on this run that pitted eventual event champion Morgan Lucas against the resurgent Brittany Force in a top fuel battle that got interesting right at the hit of the throttle…literally. As you will see, both cars went into immediate smoke and it came down to the driver’s ability to balance their own desperation and skill to hustle the cars down the track. With the tires boiling and the machines yawing wildly left and right, both Lucas and Force did their damnedest to win the round. Who did it?
