Such A Pretty Afternoon: This 434-powered Fox Mustang Goes Straight For The Sky At Byron!

Is there anything the Fox Mustang can’t do? They can run fast, they can corner, they can rally, and they can even provide the driver with an IMAX-like view of the skies above their heads with the proper motivating force. JD Drissel’s 1986 LX proves this point beautifully…the 434ci nitrous-huffing car is capable of an eight-second run when shenanigans are kept to a minimum, but that track you see is Byron Dragway…home of the infamous wheelstanding contests. So put two and two together for a moment: you have a car that is capable of going up onto the ring gear with ease, you have an audience that eats up wheelstands, and you have the track all to yourself. What would you do? Well, Drissel made the decision to go completely for broke and went for it, putting the Mustang’s rear bumper cover under plenty of duress among other forms of abuse that no Ford engineer ever looked at when work on the Fox body Mustang started in 1975.
