It’s probably something I should never admit to, but it’s only after Anarchy At The Arch IV that I’m starting to truly grasp the difference in the radial cars. Don’t laugh…normally I just shoot photos until either my body goes numb or drains completely of sweat, then I relax, refill and go shoot some more. I finally grasp the differences between them. It’s easy: MX235 guys want to prove that they can hook on a glass surface using a tire that is as wide as the standard fare on a V6 Mustang. X275 cars want more tire, but prove that more tire can hook more power on the same glass surface. And the Radial vs. The World guys don’t care, so long as there’s a DOT number on the side and nobody is looking hard at the program under the hood. They can’t have enough power…or, at least, they will tell themselves that just before something goes boom and a valve drops and proceeds to beat the hell out of a piston.
Truth be told, the radial classes made for some of the wildest racing of Anarchy At The Arch. The competition was tight and the faster cars could have fared surprisingly well had there been a Radial Vs. Pro Mod battle, with Mark Micke’s blue Malibu being one of the top contenders! Maybe that should be a thing…
