I don’t know what it is, but 1956-62 Corvettes just make for badass drag cars. In my viewpoint, they do a better job than any other generation of Corvette at properly conveying a dragstrip appearance. Sorry to any fans of Stingrays or late-model stuff, but give me a 1961-62 Corvette, with the creased, almost-1963 tail panel and the open grille up front and make the engine snotty and I will be in heaven. Or you can send me a 1956-62 car done as a straight-axle racer and I’ll be okay, too. Whatever the case, I’m easy-going like that.
Seeing this car pop up on my feed was one thing. A period correct setup called “The Hitman”, this 1962 Corvette started life as a real-deal fuel injected machine and over time has been converted into a strip runner that is good for mid-10s in the quarter on a small-block/Powerglide combination. The paint might have a bit of fade to it and the rolling stock certainly dates the build, but to make any kind of changes to the outside almost seems to be blasphemy. It’s period-correct to the 1970s and we’d really have to think it over before making any kind of appearance change.
It isn’t everyday that a beauty like this pops up for sale, and look at the bright side: if you are so inclined, you might be able to get it onto the street with a little work. The title is there, so just get the lights working and quiet down the engine some and take this beast out cruising on the street! You’ll have to have a chat with the current owner, though…the cat’s name is Rod Saboury. Name seems familiar, heard he’s a Corvette enthusiast of some kind. Who knows, you might hit it off…
I do like this body style too but it’s not agreeable to tall people. Legroom is in short supply on these cars.
gone already. looks like an old m/p car.
found it on c/l

Cool vintage Corvette, I’d leave it just the way it is.
It looks ready to roll, street or strip. The ad says “Give me a call or text if your interested, otherwise I’m going to make it street legal and take it to shows and cruise nights and have some fun at the track. Will be a blast”
That’s what this car needs, sell or not. Some street/drag radials and the original paint. I would street, cruise, show this and have fun!
I found an older for sale ad for this car that said it had no VIN tag. Rod Saboury\’s ad (newer… and higher price) claimed it had a title and VIN. I posted a link to the older ad (no VIN) on Rod\’s for sale ad on facebook, and my post was quickly deleted. Buyer beware!
Car was purchased in Newyork in the early 70s and came to North Carolina was running mid low 10s 1/4 mile with a 287 cubic inch Chevy turning the the motor 11000 rpm to launch and shift at 9700 rpm buddy of mine owned it I was running a D/G, 55 straight axle gasser at the time which is in PA now
Hi Mike, I am the new owner of this car. I would love to know who did the chassis work, more on the as raced combo from back in the day and if the owner can still be reached to talk to. I will be returning the car to a 4 speed with a tunnel ram ,not touching the outside and want to run it on the street as well at the track. I have the clear title,it has a legit Vin i.d. tag,has been confirmed with NCRS and verified a fuelie car and Vin matches the frame #s. I am in Western Md and will keep this car the way it is .Been a lifelong dream to get one of these ,never thought it would be possible . Thanks for info you can provide. Shawn
