Well this is an interesting trip into the past! We happened to stumble upon the former Lunati Street Heat Chevelle for sale on eBay and when we saw the photos we were immediately transported back to high school. We remember reading about this project intently as Jeff Smith spun the story every month.
At the time it struck a chord with our young selves because of the nature of the build. This was a legit 9-second street car that was not rocket science. There was a 540ci engine that made north of 800hp, some 4.11 gears, a Powerglide, and an interior. Oh, did we mention that this thing was literally a poster child for the then new and exciting “drag radial” tries that BFG had rolled out and started gaining some traction with. Street heat was featured in the iconic BFG ad campaigns of the time.
So the car is not exactly as perfecto as it was back in 1996. It has some bumps, some bruises, some dings, and some aging but it is still a solid Chevelle that could be reanimated with a 540 like the one that has long since departed the engine bay. One of the most interesting things about the car is the really old BFG radials it has on it. Totally useless now because of their condition, in 1996 this thing was HOT STUFF on those little tires.
Don’t take our word for it. Hit the link below and read about the rest of the details.
Holley is also selling the BG ’67 Chevelle.

Big Company takes nice car, thrashes it for a short time, then neglects it till it’s rotting away. The pinheads it Hot Rod do the same thing. Nice cars are just props for these clowns.
