Rocky Mountain Race Week 2019: Hard Charging In Kearney!

Rocky Mountain Race Week 2019: Hard Charging In Kearney!

Kearney, Nebraska is the halfway mark for the 2019 Rocky Mountain Race Week event. After winding through the mountains of Colorado, racing at altitude in Bandimere, and trucking all the way out to Kearney, Nebraska, it was time to buckle down and start the harder part of the week. From this point on, there would be no more race, then drive the next day setups. The drivers had to get their lap in, then hit the road with the nose pointed towards Julesburg, Colorado for racing the next day. That means there is no more time to be messing around with wrecked engines that are no longer happy, no more time for multiple laps to get that perfect time slip…if you chose to mess with either, you are eating up your own personal time (read again: less sleep). With less-than-idyllic conditions greeting the racers at Kearney Raceway Park, Nebraska stands to be the monkey wrench in many a racer’s plan: The really fast machines had trouble hooking, the street racers were having flashbacks to some sketchier roads they may have seen in the past, and the temperature was helping just about everybody out. Cool weather is always a racer’s friend!
