Rough Start: This 1979 Buick Regal Is Ready To Hit The Track!

Rough Start: This 1979 Buick Regal Is Ready To Hit The Track!

Sorry if you saw Buick Regal and were hoping for an all-black turbo monster waiting for a bargain budget price. Outside of searching Copart for wrecks, I’ve only seen one Grand National that ever hit that mark…and I passed up on buying it because I had no way to get the car home. Stupid, stupid, stupid mistake. Oh, well. Instead, I bring a different Regal to the table for your consideration. It’s Rough Start qualified, but only just…this 1979 model will eat every last penny of your hard-earned savings, and it’ll probably need some work if you plan on putting the car on the street, but if you are wanting project material or just want to go racing, here’s an option.

From the ad: “Clean title 1979 Buick Regal. Full drag car, roll cage certified for eight seconds. Tubbed, four-link suspension. Rear end is a narrowed Ford 9-inch with Strange axles and 4.10 gears. Mickey Thompson slicks. Fuel cell. Oldsmobile 455, running 10.5:1 compression with a .598 lift cam, tuned for 112 fuel. Powerglide, two-step, MSD and a trans brake.”

Like any race machine, the buyer should look over every last thing to make sure all is well, but for five grand, if it’s as the seller promises, one way or another this Buick will be a riot to screw around with. We say bring on the bottle of happiness and hold on tight!
