Saves, Wrecks, Near-Misses, and Spins – This Is Five Minutes of Action That’ll Have You All Wound Up

Last week we showed you kind of a crazy “highlight” reel type of video that was focused on the world of nostalgia drag racing and this week we’re back with another one. Yes, more saves, wrecks, near-misses, and spins from tracks around the country. We’re talking Bakersfield to Columbus, Ohio here. We’re talking modern nostalgia cars getting wild, Ivo rear ending Garlits during a cacklefest, the King and Marshall restored fueler trying to wheelie over backwards (like it did at Indy decades ago) and more. There are dragster, door slammers, altereds, and more for you to watch. This one does not have a lull in it, that we can say with confidence.

The toughest ones of these to watch (for us, anyway) are the ones where it looks like the driver has a handle on the car and it going to get away with one and then all of a sudden there’s a massive impact or the thing is on its roof or worse. Randy Walls funny car fire is damned scary looking. Walls was OK but the fire knocked him back for a while. That one is insane to see how quickly it develops and completely engulfs the whole car.

This is a sample of a Frank Kunkel DVD. Frank has been out and about shooting the races long before “it was cool”. He’s got great bank of footage and like other friends of ours, he’s got the history of modern nostalgia drag racing captured in his video library. That’s a great thing for geeks like us, right?

Watch this and buckle up!
