There are cars that are fast and then there are cars that look faster than they should be. This Mazda 323 is simply put, both. Ok, from the factory these things were disappointment with door handles, we get that. But you know what can make a small, light car fast, fun and sound angrier than a swarm of bald-headed hornets? A 13B rotary motor on a ton of boost, drinking E85, wound tighter than a nun’s drum, of course! But it’s not just the power that makes this little Mazda awesome: watch the suspension work as owner Andrew rips through the dog-geared Top Loader four-speed, the way the back end sinks and front end rises and dances as the car is on and off the power. 8.95@153 mph is fast, but in a car that looks like it’s scared of it’s own exhaust noise it looks even quicker.
quick little thing, but all i can think of is the old saturday night live sketch with belushi—–“hola, senor,we are the killer bees”…..
Killer bees that’ll sting you in the ball-sack, mate!
Has anybody put a multi-rotor engine in a dragster chassis yet? Because with upwards of 2,000HP available from a highly tuned rotary it would be a serious contender.
I love the phrase “Scared of its own exhaust note” that’s pure poetry and puts me in mind of when I drop me guts first thing in the morning after a night on the whisky….
