Running two huge chunks of rubber out back that can compose as much as half of a car’s total width is one way to get a ton of power down onto the ground, and it’s effective. People have been doing that for years. But if you can do it with a tire that isn’t a 32×16-15 slick, but instead a realistic size for street duty (and closer to what the car came with in the first place, long before grubby hands got into the engine bay and turned the wick up), then you look like a hero.

Let’s face facts: no matter what side of the “no prep” argument you’re on, you have to acknowledge that it’s popularity is nothing short of stunning. No prep packs the stands. No prep brings in cars. And that’s what has been needed at tracks across the country.
