Big rpm, big burnouts, wheelstands, gear banging shifts, and heads up racing action make this series something truly special. The Southeast Gassers 2026 season opener at Shadyside Dragway brought a FULL DAY of gasser action. The historic drag strip in Shelby, North Carolina has served as the home of the Southeast Gassers Association for quite a few years, and it’s a great setting for such an iconic drag racing championship series.
The 2026 season opener saw some changes in the lineup of cars, including the RETURN of Greg Porter’s Night Stalker ’55 Chevy, sporting a new Gene Fulton big block. We saw some familiar faces with a few new combinations, and some local favorites. It was a great day of drag racing action. Super Stock, A/Gas, B/Gas, C/Gas, H/Gas and A/FX were on hand.
