(Photo credit: NHRA.com) – As any drag racing fan well knows, the sport of straight line performance is one that is chock full of numbers. Not all numbers are stats but all stats are numbers. Does that make sense? Just because it has been 32 Wednesdays since John Force last qualified in the top half of the field, it does not qualify as a stat. The guy who’s job it is to actually pay attention to the stuff that makes up the record of the sport is Lewis Bloom and he works hard to keep on top of things.
It is an interesting thing that Lewis does because this stuff doesn’t generate itself. He tracks every round of competition and keeps a myriad of spreadsheets and notes on everything that is happening so when the guy running the TV show need the information it is right there for them.
Naturally if the guy is surrounded by these numbers all the time there are a few that stick out to him. Going back through all of his 2016 stuff Lewis dug up the top 10 “best” stats, in his opinion, that he could find. These deal with personal performances, they deal with speeds, they deal with sportsman racers, nitro categories, and more. He swings a long bat here and it is an entertaining thing to read.
