(Photos by Wes Allison) – It was high drama when the final round of stock eliminator rolled around at the 2018 NHRA Winternationals in Pomona, California last weekend. Ryan Mangus driving an E/SA (e stock automatic) 1971 Camaro with a 350 matched up with Larry Gilley who drives a 1969 Dart with a 340 which also falls under the E/SA designation. In stock, when that that happens it is a heads-up, no breakout race. The fans got to see a barn burner with the small block Mopar beating the small block Chevy by the slimmest of margins. Stockers are way cool!
These images come from earlier in the event but they are centered around stock eliminator cars leaving the line, wheels up and flying! We’ve said it for years but we love stock around here. Chad’s dad competed as a stock eliminator racer for years and the cars are always fun to see. Check out the photos below for more!
