(Words and Photos by Charles Wickam) – This being my third trip to the Holley National Hot Rod Reunion, I had kind of an idea what I was in for. With over 1500 race and show cars on the grounds to see and drool over it was going to be a busy weekend. These were not all locals, either. Some of the best looking cars came from all over to the central part of the county to take park of this incredible event. License plates were spotted from as far as New York and California along with another span from Florida to South Dakota! True die hard nostalgic racing fans know this is one of the best events to attend in the central part of the USA. With so many cars to see I wanted to share what were my top 12 from the 2014 event. My taste varies quit a bit from a front engine dragster to a primered Willys gasser, 60s style shoebox drag cars, and to one of the most incredible automotive works of art I have ever seen in the shape of a 1969 Torino Talladega.
Is that a real “Brooklyn Heavy” car? I always thought Rufus “Brooklyn Heavy” Boyd (RIP) was more of Mopar racer.
Nice, diverse selection of cars.
Of course, Bangshift tradition would limit the number to eleven . . . . 🙂
Touche! We are over by one. The rusty wagon was just a practice picture =P
Seen most of them before at one venue or another. I really like the Olds-powered digger. I haven’t seen George’s torino in paint, but I saw it in raw steel (which I actually like more). Good choices. I might could come up with a better list next year if the car cooperates. This year it didn’t. When we finally thought we were ready Friday morning we ended up spending the whole day only making it 60 miles from home. Bad oil leaks that we couldn’t find or fix.
Awesome pics! That wagon is sweet!
Nice collection, Charles. I am not normally a fan of Gen 1 Camaros, but I like that Brooklyn Heavy. Cool name too.
What is the point in putting up pictures and not identifying them?
So he is big into rat rods. What a bunch of unfinished rats. (Not all but way too many)
