The Bob Glidden Story: This Ford Made 1980s Film Gives An Awesome Look Into Glidden’s Career At Its Peak

Being that the NHRA is racing in Atlanta this weekend, we couldn’t help but think about the late Bob Glidden. Remembering legends and their careers is a fun thing.  Part of that is thinking about, looking back on, and honoring his career. There’s a pretty reasonable argument that you could make to claim that Bob Glidden is the best NHRA drag racer of all time. Whether you think he’s the best or trails Garlits, you have to admit no matter your brand loyalty that Glidden is a top three racer in history. His insane streak of 13 US Nationals find round appearances in a row, his titles, the wins, and the whole shooting match. The fact he did it in the NHRA and the IHRA, the fact that he came through the stock and super stock ranks to graduate to super stock, the list just goes on and on and on.

I could rant for days about how much of a bad ass Bob Glidden was and still is. He doesn’t need me blathering on. Just enjoy the video below and send some good thoughts the way of the Glidden family. Time waits for no man, unfortunately, even one that built some of the baddest naturally aspirated Ford racing engines of all time. If given the option to race time heads up on a pro tree though, I’m taking Glidden ten times out of ten.
