Well, if you have ever heard the legends of how awesome the Pocono Drag Lodge site is in terms of ghost track fun, you better hurry up and go get a look at it. Why? The 278 acres of land that made up the Pennsylvania track are for sale for slightly less than a million bucks…very slightly under a million bucks actually as the asking price is $999,999. I have visited this location with my family and we were there in the dead of winter. It is awesome, it is cool, it is slightly spooky, and it is all the things any awesome ghost track should be. The track as not operated in decades and we do not believe that the place could be revived as a drag strip due to local zoning and rules but hey, if someone with insane wealth wanted to try it would be great. Joe Amato started his career here, among others and he’s got this type of money between the couch cushions.
There have been Pocono Drag Lodge reunions and stuff held over the years, the old tower has been re-sheathed in plywood and painted to look like a functional building but it’ll be bulldozed once developers start to carve out house lots on the property. 278 acres is a huge parcel and it comes with a 3/4-mile road running down the middle of it.
One of the interesting things is the fact that this track had an uphill shutdown because of the shale deposit at the end of the place. We don’t know if buyers would care about that as it would seem tough to dig foundations and stuff through it. Guess that would be their problem once they put shovels into the Earth.
So you have been warned. Get to the Pocono Drag Lodge site in Bear Creek, PA soon. There’s no telling what happens to it next.

I was there once for the reunion, couldn’t believe how close it is to Pocono Raceway. Sorry to see it disappear eventually.
