If you watch Street Outlaws or follow the No Prep drag racing scene you have likely heard of Mike Qualley and his awesome Ford F-1 truck known as The Mutt. It got that name before it’s a Ford truck with a turbocharged small block Chevy, and has some Chrysler parts sprinkled in there somewhere as well. The truck was built for the the street scene and that means when the traction level it is competing on rises, so does the front end.
In this video which was shot by Urban Hillbilly at Ozark Raceway Park during a recent no-prep event we see why people truly love this rig. It’s so unassuming that you’d think it was a street rod or a cruiser and then when the fury is unlashed on the strip you realize that Qualley is some kind of evil genius for creating a hot rod with this much function.
What we think is cool is his interview at the end of the video. Mike is absolutely a guy who gets it. He talks about racing at small tracks, the value of putting on a good show, and the reasons why this truck wasn’t going to ever keep the nose down unless he pulled multiple plugs wires off of it.
Man, this thing rules!
