The Parting Shift: Cruise The Neighborhood In a Lenco Equipped, 584ci, 8-Second, Street Legal, 1964 Fairlane

There are few more pleasurable things to do in your car than strike out on a beautiful day and cruise around. The lack of a destination is typically part of the fun because a free form drive will always take you somewhere, maybe even a place you never thought you’d find. In the case of the driver in this video, he just wanted to take advantage of some awesome weather and check up on the neighborhood in a friendly fashion. His method of conveyance to do such a thing is one of the coolest street legal Fords we have ever virtually ridden in. This Fairlane is one hairy sounding son of a bitch and it packs a 584ci big block that is naturally aspirated and makes enough suds to shove the car down a drag strip in the eight second range, all while the driver slams gears with iconic Lenco handles. As you’ll see its street cruising manners are pretty good, too.

The guy doesn’t do anything nutty or crazy during the drive so don’t be looking for big burnouts or otherworldly speeds. Instead, just revel in how nice this car is inside and out, how nasty and great it sounds, and how much you want that Lenco straight cut gear whine in your life. The transmission sounds like some sort of industrial appliance and that makes us want it even more! You’ll see him gently nose into the pedal a time or two and trust us, that sends enough of a message about how much ass this Ford can haul when the chips are down. The big 584ci motor is topped with a tunnel ram and the carbs are sticking up loud and proud right in the center of the hood.

Our goal in life is to someday be as cool as this guy. Oh, when he parks it in the garage and gives the throttle a whack before shutting it down it’ll make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. This is one sweet, sweet Fairlane!

    That’s more like it!

I don’t know whether its that enormous hood scoop or what – but this beauty looks kinda small for a Fairlane – still embarrassing stains material though!

Weep into your fruit juice, Chevy lovers!

That thing is awesome, the craftsmanship on it looks great, I love it, when is my turn to drive it ?

Awesome. I’ll show my 9yr-old T-bolt fan this. Craftsmanship looks top shelf. My turn to drive.

      1) I would have not been able to control myself in that car. I would have punched it and ended up running over the mayor’s cat or something and get taken to the big house.

      2) I’ll bet your nine year old Thunderbolt fan didn’t care that there was no place to plug in an ipod…

      3) Flat panel tv in his garage, nice.
