The American Powertrain Parting Shift: The Meanest 272ci Mouse Motor You’ve Ever Heard – Five Digit RPMs?

The American Powertrain Parting Shift: The Meanest 272ci Mouse Motor You’ve Ever Heard – Five Digit RPMs?

Sweet screaming mother of eargasm, this video rules. Not a shocking revelation to say that we loves us some small inch, big RPM small blocks ’round here and this Camaro which is run by Sharp Motorsports in United Manual Transmission Racers events fits the bill. Only 272ci produces enough power to heave the Camaro down Thompson Dragway in 9.39 seconds at a blazing 143-mph. OOGA BOOGA!

The visual is cool because you can see the gauges and watch the Earth go flying by through the windows, but it is the sound, the unmistakable shreik of nearly 10,000 RPM out of a V8 engine, that gives us goosebumps. Oh, note what appears to be a cool, old cable drive tach on the dash as well.

If this video doesn’t make you want to jump into your junk and starting tearing around town, there is something wrong with you.

Crank the speakers and press play!
