(Photos by Benoit Pigeon) – Last weekend at Orlando Speed World, just outside of Orlando, Florida one of the baddest door slammer races in the country took place as well as one of the most important pre-season test sessions. Yes, it was the World Outlaw Nationals and the Real Pro Mod Association Winter Warm-Up all rolled into one fantastic ball of awesome action. Our man Benoit Pigeon was on the property to document the action that showed off the stars of the PDRA, NHRA, and NMCA door slammer series as the got their stuff perfect for the quickly approaching season stars for all three campaigns. The NMCA starts this coming weekend in Bradenton, Florida while the NHRA starts the following weekend in Gainesville for pro mods, and the PDRA is just behind that!
In terms of awesome looking cars, you’ll see a bunch in here. From Chad Green’s super classy nitrous Camaro dressed in black and gunmetal gray to Jeremy Ray’s killer orange “Carolina King Pin” Corvette, there’s something for everyone to check out.
How did people run? On the whole they ran well. The weather was pretty warm so it was not a place for setting world records but the NHRA cars ran in the 5.70s where one would expect in those conditions and perhaps even a little better than one may have predicted given the atmosphere.
With some more testing to come next week in Bradenton, it is almost time to officially call the door slammer drag racing season on!
Awesome pics, looking forwards to a great season!
